It’s been awhile since – if ever – that I’ve really delved into the “breathe” in EatDrinkBreatheSweat.
I figure the “eat,” “drink,” and “sweat” portions of my blog’s name are pretty self-explanatory by now, but the “breathe”? Well, that can totally be left up to interpretation.
When I started my blog, the “breathe” in EatDrinkBreatheSweat, signified living life to the fullest, enjoying (or “breathing”) in every single moment of the day, for better or worse.
And today, almost two years later, it still very much stands for that.
But it also stands for so much more…something that dawned on me during barre n9ne tonight (a killer double session – barre fusion followed by arms & abs express, holy obliques!).
So without further ado, what “breathe” means to me…
…breathing through a session at the barre, exhaling through the slight down, down, down of my thighs and glutes held in plie at the barre.
…breathing in the aroma of pine needles, lake air, ocean air, early AM air, during my morning run, listening to Scott trodding along by my side.
…breathing through those final moments of a run. When focus truly comes into play. When I’m kicking out that final half mile, chasing Scott down the street. Legs kicking out behind me.
…breathing in the smell of Scott’s t-shirts when I take them out of the dryer. They smell like him. Like comfort. Like love. It always catches me by surprise when I catch a whiff while during chores.
…breathing, er, catching my breath, after giggling away while showing a coworker the cutest video clip of my niece walking (yes, she’s walking!!) that my sis sent to me yesterday.
…breathing in the scent of a delicious dinner waiting for me after barre n9ne on Tuesday night. The kitchen smelled like lemon, thyme and basil. A few of the herbs baked into the chicken Scott made us for dinner. Made just for me. What a guy. <3
…breathing. In. Out. Inhale. Exhale. Living.
That, my friends, is how I define “breathe.” It’s life. It’s living. It’s loving. It’s the world around us. Waiting for us to discover it. Those neat little nuances that make my life “mine” and your life “yours.”
Now…I wonder, is that how you envision my definition of the “breathe” in EatDrinkBreatheSweat?
